Sustainably made in the UK: These trays are made in small batches in Northamptonshire by Selwyn House, using sustainably sourced British timbers.

Contemporary and minimalist: The tray has a simple "pill shaped" form. The exterior edges of the tray are straight, whilst the inner edge curves gently down.

A versatile addition to the home: use the tray as a display surface in any room of the home, from the dining room to the bedroom. Works with a wide range of interior styles.

A unique piece: Each tray has its own unique grain and markings, thanks to the natural characteristics of the oak and the reaction it goes through during the fuming process.

How it's made: Selwyn House have made this tray from air-dried, English quarter sawn Oak, which then undergoes a remarkable natural reaction in a fuming cupboard, turning it a deep, rich dark brown, whilst retaining the grain and texture of the timber. 

How to use your tray

  • As kitchen or tableware: Serve snacks at the table, or use for your tea or coffee. The tray is finished in a food safe hard wax oil (which contains walnut oil) for durability. To preserve the appearance of the timber, avoid contact with liquids, and do not use as a surface for sharp objects.
  • To display objects: Use as a display surface for a candle in a vessel, or a collection of small objects such as favourite jewellery.

How to care for your tray 
Not suitable for dishwashers or submerging in water. For best results wipe clean with a damp cloth and use a Wood Balm regularly to preserve the finish.

Established in 2017 by Sean Best and Ellie Smalls, Selwyn House create functional yet beautiful wooden tableware that doesn’t compromise on sustainability. Their pieces are born from a love of great food and gathering together for simple feasts. Every piece is made individually by hand in their workshop in rural Northamptonshire, exclusively from trees which are grown in Britain and sourced in small batches from independent sawmills. Rather than the tropical timbers so often found in commercial woodenware, Selwyn House choose to use the fantastic hardwoods available right here in this country - hoping to play a small part in highlighting the beauty of British timber and the need to invest in its future.
