DESCRIPTION
An elegant ceramic bowl that will be a beautiful addition to a dining table.

Ideal for serving salads, this deep bowl has been handmade by East London-based Lucía Ocejo on the potter's wheel in a stoneware clay.

It is finished in a silvery-grey glaze that's full of golden yellow, crystalline patterns and darker speckles where iron in the clay has reacted with the atmosphere of the kiln. Where the glaze has been applied more thickly, a beautiful dripped effect is created around the exterior.

Wide at the top, the edges of the bowl taper elegantly in to a small base with a turned footring for stability. The base is stamped with Lucía Ocejo's maker's mark.

Lucía has recently constructed a gas kiln by hand in the Oxfordshire countryside. The patterns across the glazed surface are thanks to the chemistry between the glaze, clay body and heat in the unique atmosphere created within the gas kiln. This one-off piece would make a unique addition to a collection of ceramic tableware, or perhaps as a gift for a special occasion.

How to care for your serving bowl
Wash by hand with warm soapy water. To preserve your ceramics, do not place in the dishwasher.

About Lucía Ocejo
From Mexico City, potter Lucía Ocejo is now based at Crown Works Pottery in Bethnal Green, East London, where she makes her ceramic tableware. Her work aims to reflect the simplicity of the materials available, using a variety of high fire stoneware clays with a specific interest in glazes. To her mind, the magic of ceramics lies between the landscape and the transformative power of fire. She has worked as a production potter in London and supplied fine dining tableware to several restaurants such as Kol, Gold, CAVITA, Popolo, Pophams, among others.
