A large ceramic bottle for pouring oil, made in East London by Clare Spindler.

The bottle is hand glazed in a warm "oatmeal" colour with subtle speckling.

With its pared-back, minimalist form, and a neutral glaze, this oil bottle would fit into a wide range of interior schemes, and would make a lovely housewarming or wedding gift.

Simple and beautiful form: The shape is inspired by Victorian ginger beer bottles reinterpreted to reflect Clare's aesthetic of streamlined architectural shapes.

The bottle is stamped on the base with Clare Spindler's maker's mark.

A warm neutral glaze: The bottle is hand-thrown on the potter's wheel in a stoneware clay, and hand-glazed in a warm "oatmeal" colour with subtle speckling. Towards the top of the bottle the colour is a little more toasty and speckled, which adds some nice variation. Subtle lines can be seen down the edge of the bottle, where the glaze has overlapped during the glazing process.

Working from Turning Earth in Leyton, Clare Spindler creates functional ceramics in stoneware and porcelain with an emphasis on streamlined, architectural shapes. While the majority of her work is wheel-thrown, she also produces decorative pieces that combine thrown and altered and hand-built components, and has recently begun experimenting with atmospheric firing techniques.
