FLORENCE CERAMICS Stoneware Dimple Cup in Basalt Speckle

A speckled ceramic cup in a pared back and simple form, with a satisfying dimple in which to rest your thumb.

Thoughtfully designed to be comfortable to hold with either one hand or two, this handle-less cup is inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese design principles, and is likely to become part of your daily morning ritual.

This cup would work well for a morning coffee, whether you prefer a cortado, flat white or macchiato. It could also be used for a small cup of tea or hot chocolate.

How it's made
Made by Florence in her Bristol studio, this cup has been hand thrown on the potter’s wheel from a heavy basalt-flecked stoneware, before being finished with a slightly thinned out off-white glaze, which allows the heavily speckled clay to bleed into the white surface.

The bottom centimetre of the cup is left raw, and then sanded smooth when fired, to create a tactile contrast. The cup features Florence Ceramics maker’s stamp on the underside.

This would make a great gift for someone who loves coffee and well-made pottery, either as a single cup or a set (glaze options can be mix and matched).

Also available in Oatmeal glaze.
