FLORENCE CERAMICS Stoneware Mug with Poured Umber Glaze

A tactile mug with a poured glaze effect, handmade by Florence in her Bristol pottery studio.

The mug is hand-thrown from oxidising St. Thomas clay, with a generous handle pulled in the traditional method.

Florence has freehand glazed the mug with her beautiful "burnt umber" glaze, using a pouring method. The clay on the bottom half of the mug is left raw, and sanded to create a tactile finish.

"Burnt Umber" is a shimmering, multi-dimensional glaze that covers a spectrum of toffee brown, burnt orange, rust, gold and pale grey-green.

The mug is finished with a maker’s stamp on the base.

This would make a thoughtful gift for anyone who enjoys drinking their tea, coffee or hot chocolate from a well-crafted mug.
