POTTERY WEST Handcrafted Stoneware Tall Mug - Nori

£36.00
Description

A well-formed mug for tea or coffee, handmade in Sheffield by Pottery West.

These mugs are thrown on the potter’s wheel in an iron-rich flecked stoneware, and stamped with Pottery West’s maker’s mark. They are glazed with a dipped effect that leaves some raw clay at the base for a pleasing textural contrast.

This is Catherine and Matt West’s original mug design and has become a firm favourite over the years. It has a pared back form with straight vertical sides and a well proportioned handle that begins around a third of the way down the side and connects to the base of the mug. The mug feels slim yet sturdy, with a well balanced weight to its base.

Ideal for any hot drink, or as a gift for someone who enjoys minimalist ceramic kitchenware and tableware.

Glazed in 'Nori', a spectacular tapestry of vivid blues, greens and occasionally browns, within a mottled crystalline structure. This is a glossy glaze but the rutile within creates a more semi-matte appearance in certain lights.
