SZ CERAMICS Wavy Candle Holder

A tactile, handmade piece: This vessel is hand thrown on the potter's wheel in a stoneware clay, and the neck is shaped into organic, flowing waves inspired by natural forms. Delicate lines from the throwing process are visible across the surface.

Each candlestick is hand-glazed in a milky off white glaze that is thinly applied to bring out the rusty colour beneath, with delicate speckles created during the firing process in the kiln.

Stamped on the base with SZ Ceramics' maker's mark.

Due to the handmade nature of our ceramics, there will be slight variations in glaze, shape and colour between each piece.

Having rediscovered clay when she felt lost in her career in her twenties, Emma Szkolar practiced in studios across London and Paris, always led by the simple question - what can become of this ball of mud? As her love for making grew, Emma founded SZ.CERAMICS in 2020. Today, she remains inspired by shape and form, and enjoys starting on the wheel before manipulating her work by hand to create kinks and waves. She works from a studio in Leyton, East London.
