Today I'm sharing some gift ideas for Mother's Day (this year it's Sunday 15 March 2026 in the UK). Whether you're looking for a gift for your own mum, or something for a special mother figure in your life, this guide is a great place to start.
Of course, with this being Land Tales, everything in our guide is made in the UK. On each product page you'll find more information about the talented maker or responsible small brand behind the product, so that you know the story behind the gift you're giving.
Create a moment of calm and pause with handmade pottery
There's something simple and enjoyable about drinking from a handmade mug, and at Land Tales we've got plenty to choose from, all made in the UK by talented potters.
For mums of any age who appreciate classic and traditional forms, our Tea Mug by Sophia McEvoy is the perfect choice. Sophia creates each mug by hand in her garden pottery studio, working on the wheel and adding an elegant handle with beautiful attention to detail in the finishing. Made in Suffolk, UK, each mug is stamped with Sophia's maker's mark on the base, so that you know it's a piece of handmade pottery. Her bespoke "buttermilk" glaze is a warm off-white that pairs with calm and neutral home interior schemes.
And for a lovely gift combination, why not pair the tea mug with Sophia's matching breakfast bowl in buttermilk glaze?
Meanwhile, Clare Spindler's large mugs are perfect for mums who like a generously sized cup of tea or coffee. Made in Leyton, East London and available in either a matte white or glossy "pearl" glaze, these mugs have a streamlined, slightly angular form that works well in modern or contemporary settings.
Other simple ceramic items we love:
- Little ceramic milk jugs made by Sophia McEvoy in a beautiful mossy green glaze
- A bowl that's perfect for snacks and ice cream, made in Bristol by Florence Ceramics
Add joyful colour to her home
If you're looking for something a little bit different, Celia Wood's hand-painted ceramic vase is a perfect option. Made exclusively for Land Tales, these vases are created from start to finish by ceramic artist Celia Wood in her Edinburgh studio.
They feature a bird painted in joyful golden yellow, surrounded by colourful foliage and decorative flourishes in Celia's uniquely expressive style. She adds her maker's mark to the base so that you know it's a handmade piece.
The vase has been featured in Stylist and Homes and Interiors Scotland magazines, and is available in a limited run.
Choose something beautiful for her kitchen
For mums who enjoy spending time cooking or baking, our brown oak flour scoop is guaranteed to make her kitchen rituals that little bit more enjoyable. Designed and made in Northamptonshire by Selwyn House, each scoop is crafted from a solid piece of richly-toned British brown oak. It's designed to fit perfectly into a kilner jar for scooping flour for baking.
Another firm customer favourite, the swirled ceramic spoon rest made by Florence in Bristol is a beautiful and useful addition to a busy worktop - it makes a perfect place to pop a spoon when busy in the kitchen.
Create a moment of calm
For many mums, a high quality scented candle is guaranteed to hit the spot, and I'm a huge fan of East London-based brand Homework, who create products that draw on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Inspired by the water element, Homework's Water candle is made from responsibly sourced rapeseed and coconut wax, and comes in a reusable smoked glass vessel. Its scent combines citrus, water, wood and spice notes for a light and fresh scent that's great for spring.
For another candle-based gift idea, why not combine a pair of our hand-dipped British beeswax candles with one of Sophia McEvoy's beautifully-crafted candle holders for a timeless and elegant homeware gift?
And of course, there's always chocolate
I love the idea of giving a bakery-inspired chocolate bar as a nod to the traditional "breakfast in bed". The team at Pump Street Chocolate in Suffolk have created Croissant and Sourdough + Sea Salt flavoured dark chocolate bars that are delicious, beautifully wrapped, and perfectly capture the flavour of some classic baked goods.
The finishing touch...
Of course, a card is a must! I love this simple and elegant gold foiled "Mama" card that's designed by Katie Housley and printed in the UK on luxury card stock.
And if you'd like Land Tales to hand-wrap your gifts, just add Gift Wrapping.
I hope this has given you some inspiration for choosing your thoughtful Mother's Day gift this year. You'll find plenty more ideas in our Mother's Day Gifts Collection.
Happy gifting!
