CELIA WOOD Hand-painted Ceramic Vase "Liberty"

A very special vase featuring a hand painted bird and foliage, handmade by Celia Wood in Edinburgh.

Made using a slab-building technique, with sheets of clay carefully assembled to create a flat front and back to the vase, which are approximately 147mm at the widest point and 200mm tall, joined with 50mm sides.

Both faces of the vase feature a bird painted with sunshine and golden yellow tones, surrounded by lilac, coral and teal-green foliage on a white background, all hand-painted in Celia’s signature expressive style. The side panels of the vase are finished with lilac edging and yellow flowers.

Made from white earthenware, hand painted with a colourful underglaze, and finished with a transparent glaze for a glossy effect that catches the light.

Signed on the base by the artist.

This special piece deserves to take pride of place on a mantlepiece, where it could be filled with flowers, grasses, foliage, or simply proudly displayed as a piece of ceramic art on its own or within a collection.

It would also make for a special housewarming or wedding gift for someone who appreciates colourful and expressive handmade ceramics.
