SELWYN HOUSE English Oak Lunch Plate

£34.00
Description

A beautiful and well-made wooden plate, crafted in the UK.

With the warm tones of natural timber, this is a stylish piece of tableware for a pastry or lunchtime sandwich. Also available in a smaller size.

This plate is made by Selwyn House in their Northamptonshire workshop, using oak that is sustainably grown in Britain.

Each plate is individually hand-turned from quarter sawn English Oak. The slow growth and long drying process has resulted in a fantastically rich, characterful wood, often with beautiful medullary rays running across the surface. This oak is also really stable, meaning your plates stay flat on the table.

Gently curving inside and out, the slight bevel to the rim and well balanced proportions make this a substantial yet lightweight piece of tableware. Finished in a hardwearing hardwax oil.

About Selwyn House
Established in 2017 by Sean Best and Ellie Smalls, Selwyn House create functional yet beautiful wooden tableware that doesn’t compromise on sustainability. Their pieces are born from a love of great food and gathering together for simple feasts. Every piece is made individually by hand in their workshop in rural Northamptonshire, exclusively from trees which are grown in Britain and sourced in small batches from independent sawmills. Rather than the tropical timbers so often found in commercial woodenware, Selwyn House choose to use the fantastic hardwoods available right here in this country - hoping to play a small part in highlighting the beauty of British timber and the need to invest in its future.
